The recording of Queen’s debut album began in 1971, but no one was willing to release it. It wasn’t until July 13, 1973, that it ended up in record stores.

My American friends Christina and Marcel, 80 and 86, respectively, told me that they saw a ‘Pop guy’ in the distance, standing outside of Harrods in 1973 handing out records. Christina walked up to him to get a free record, and saw it was a young man with protruding teeth, Freddie Mercury!
